School Year Kick-Off Social// August 30
In order to start the School Year right. Our chapter decided to organize the first social of the year during the summer. We had pizza, refreshments, a volleyball match, water balloon toss among other fun events.
Members as well as the newly appointed officers had the chance to get to know each other better while having a good time.
We look forward to many more socials which will hopefully enable us to form long-lasting friendships.

Minerpalooza // September 2
MINERPALOOZA celebrated it’s 23rd Anniversary this Fall!
It is The University of Texas at El Paso’s largest pep rally and back to school celebration and voted, “Best Annual Event” by El Paso Magazine.
The event continues to grow every single year this past fall; we anticipate over 30,000 people at MINERPALOOZA for school spirit, food, live music, and games. MINERPALOOZA boasts a pep rally featuring the 2011 NCA National Champion UTEP Cheerleaders, Coach Price and UTEP’s Football team, the UTEP Marching Miners, Golddiggers and a welcome from our President, Dr. Diana Natalicio.
El Paso’s local media personalities serve as guest hosts as the festivities are broadcast live.Admission is free and open to the public. Students with a valid Miner Gold Card enjoy many inflatable games for free, while others purchase nominally priced tickets for a variety of activities and refreshments.
The majority of the activity booths are hosted by student organizations as one of their largest fundraisers of the year. There is also an expanded Kid’s Zone providing great family fun! ALD was proud to partner up with American Eagle Paintball who kindly enough helped us out throughout the event and gave some fellow miners the opportunity to win great prizes.
Minerland: Homecoming 2013 // September 4
IThis year's UTEP Homecoming theme was Disney and Minerland was the name! Special Events included a Homecoming Pageant, a Homecoming Musical and of course the Homecoming Parade, Pep Rally & Game! Many students participated by dressing up and attending these and other events during the week of Homecoming.
ALD had the pleasure to partner up with the Student Alumni Association this year. We were assigned the theme of Pirates of the Caribbean. SAA & ALD members worked together throughout the week and successfully built our float: The Orange Pearl in honor of our school colors and the Black Pearl from The Pirates of the Caribbean.
Making Strides Walk // September 6
Every Making Strides Against Breast Cancer event is an incredible and inspiring opportunity to unite as a community to honor breast cancer survivors, raise awareness about what we can do to reduce our breast cancer risk, and raise money to help the American Cancer Society fight the disease with breast cancer research, information and services, and access to mammograms for women who need them.
This past October ALD participated in The Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk and was able to raise and donate $250.00 dollars in a matter of three days. Thanks to our awesome members and donors who gave us the opportunity to make this happen.
Child Crisis Center Halloween Party// Oct 7
The Child Crisis Center of El Paso’s (CCCEP) main program is the Circle of Love Nursery and Children’s Shelter, which provides 24/7 emergency shelter for up to 31 children, ages newborn through 13 years for families experiencing a crisis.
This past October Alpha Lambda Delta UTEP was able to organize a Halloween Party for the children residing at CCCEP. The children went trick-or-treating, participated in a cupcake walk, a mystery box game, face-painting and other fun events where members we're able to play with the kids and make this Halloween a memorable one.
